The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, piloted by Adolf Galland, is a legendary symbol of WWII aviation. Fighter Studios captures this historic warbird with remarkable precision, presented on our Aero Craft Printed Panel—a unique fusion of photographic artistry and aerospace-inspired craftsmanship.
Each panel begins with a Chromaluxe aluminium print, produced using advanced dye sublimation to achieve exceptional colour vibrancy and fine detail. The print is then mounted onto our hand-riveted aluminium frame, a signature Aero Craft Creations design inspired by authentic aircraft fuselage construction. This combination of cutting-edge print technology and traditional metalwork creates a truly distinctive aviation collectible.
Historical Background – Adolf Galland, an attack pilot veteran of the Legion Condor in the Spanish Civil War, rapidly rose to General of Fighters during WWII. During the Battle of Britain, he flew and later commanded JG 26 Schlageter, based in the Pas-de-Calais area. It was during this time that he piloted the Bf 109E—arguably the most advanced fighter of the day.
The aircraft depicted here, W Nr. 5819, is a Bf 109E-4/N powered by the improved DB 601N engine. It bears Galland’s signature “Mickey Mouse” artwork beneath the cockpit and the <-+- markings of the Geschwader (Fighter Wing) Commander. Galland’s aircraft was notable for two unique modifications—one visible, the other legendary. To aid long-range identification, a rifle scope was installed alongside the gun sight, protruding through the windscreen. As a devoted cigar enthusiast, Galland was also rumoured to have had a cockpit ashtray.
The 5819’s bright yellow nose and rudder served as quick friend-or-foe identifiers during engagements, while green and gray blotched camouflage improved concealment when viewed from above. She is shown with a 66-gallon external tank, ready for another daring Channel crossing.
