The RAF Type C.1 Roundel stands as one of the most iconic insignia in British aviation history. Our in-house design pairs this emblem with the Medium Sea Grey and Dark Green camouflage pattern that became the hallmark of RAF day fighters from the early 1940s. This scheme was worn by legendary aircraft such as the Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX, Hawker Typhoon, De Havilland Mosquito (fighter variants), and Bristol Beaufighter.
Each Aero Craft Printed Panel begins with a Matt Chromaluxe Aluminium print, produced using advanced dye sublimation for superior colour depth and fine detail with a subtle, non-reflective finish. The print is then mounted on our signature hand-riveted aluminium frame, inspired by authentic aircraft fuselage construction. This combination of precision printing and artisan metalwork creates a truly unique aviation collectible.
Historical Background – The RAF Type C.1 roundel was officially introduced in July 1942 and became the standard marking for RAF aircraft during the latter half of WWII. The Medium Sea Grey and Dark Green camouflage scheme was developed as part of the RAF Day Fighter Scheme, combining Medium Sea Grey undersides with disruptive Dark Green upper surfaces for optimal concealment and recognition in European combat theatres. This camouflage became a defining feature of frontline fighters during critical operations, including those leading up to and after D-Day.
